Irina Kalinowska

Irina Kalinowska received violin lessons from her Grandfather at the age of five. From the year 1999 up to 2006 she took violin lessons in the Music School Lübeck with V. Goldfeld. In the winter semester 2006/07 she changed her main focus from violine to viola. In 2007, she enrolled as a “young student”at the Academy of Music Lübeck with Prof. Barbara Westphal the main subject being the viola.

Among others, she won the 1st award at the Carl-Schröder-Competition , at Sonderhausen and the competition “’Jugend musiziert”. She won the 1st award at the International Valsesia Competition (in Italy) and the 1st award at the International FLAME Competition Paris (in France).

In 2008, she was rewarded with a special award at the International Marschner Competition. In the same year, she received the 2nd award at the nation wide competition of the Maria Pajmanns-Kania cultur award for young viola players in Trossingen.

In 2010, she won the 1st award at the national competition “Jugend musiziert” with the highscore in the category of solo playing. Morever, she was rewarded with special awards from the Philharmonic Association Lübeck and the German Foundation Musikleben. In 2011, she was invited to perform the famous concert series “Marler Debut” to perform as a solo player at a sinfony concert in the Marl Theatre. Since 2010, Irina has been receiving a scholarship from the Marie-Louise-Imbusch Foundation Lübeck.
